Our Heads Are in the Woods! Notes from Camp – May, 2019

Hi Folks,

In this posting you will find:

We are still here in Tucson, sweating it out as the mercury heads well beyond 90 degrees.  The great news is this is the last posting we will write from Arizona.  In just a matter of days, we will pack the office and the dogs into the car, and point it north!  Phew!  We can’t wait!!

We were just in Chicago last week for the awesome Camp for All Kids “Cocktails Around the Campfire” event.  What a blast!  The folks at the event were SO friendly and SO warm, it made up for the 12 hours of snow we experienced that whole day.  We had a fun time, and the event raised over $100,000!  For anyone who’d like to sweeten that pot, you can still make a donation by clicking here.

During the CFAK event, I was chatting with a camp family and I recalled to them how difficult I found the last month or so of school to be when I was a kid.  After I had my first taste of being a camper, by the time late April rolled around, they may have well just shipped me off then.  My body was in school, but my head was at camp!  I’m sure some important events transpired during those weeks each year.  I just don’t remember them.  I do vividly recall being in class, staring out the window, and dreaming of the lakes and trees and all my camp friends I was going to see so soon.

So if your kids seem impatient this time of year, you may now understand the cause.  Even as a (relatively) full-fledged adult, I still feel it.  I can’t wait to get up to camp!!

BILLING: It is that time, folks.  May 15th is the due date for completing your balance payment for camp.  If you have not yet paid your camp balance, please take care of that.  PLEASE REFER TO YOUR KEYLOG PAGE TO SEE ALL OF YOUR ACCOUNT STATEMENT DETAILS!  You will NOT receive a  statement in the mail.  If you’d like to pay by credit card, you can click here, and pay it securely.  Remember that credit card payments incur a 2.75% surcharge.

If you have questions about your camp account, please give us a call.  We just ask you to check your Keylog page for your account balance first, before requesting that information from us.  Thanks.

SENDING US MAIL TO CAMP:  If you need to send anything to us (i.e. your payment), please send everything to the camp address at this point.  The address is:

US Mail:

PO Box 1188
Woodruff, WI.  54568

UPS, Fed Ex, Non-US Mail:

11400 Airport Rd.
Woodruff, WI.  54568

REMEMBER THE DEADLINE FOR SENDING MEDICATIONS TO CAMP FOR 1ST SESSION IS JUNE 7TH. 2nd session and 8-Week refill deadline is July 3rd to ship your camper’s medications to camp.

TIMBERLANE CLOTHING (and LAUNDRY BAGS)  If you are going to buy logo’d items from the Everything Summer Camp website, you should place your order by the middle of this month to assure receipt of your items before the start of camp.

CAMPER TRAVEL: Information for CITs traveling to camp on June 8th will be emailed to CIT parents very soon.  Information for campers traveling to camp on June 17th is already posted on your Keylog page.  Additionally, we will send that same information along with baggage tags via US Mail at the very beginning of June.    Information for campers joining us 2nd Session will be uploaded to the Keylog page in late June, and mailed along with baggage tags in very early July.

TRAVEL PLAN CHANGES: Please note that any changes to your son’s travel plans must be confirmed with us at least one week prior to travel days to avoid extra charges.  Additions to any of our buses will be available only if we have open seats at that time.

Please understand we won’t arrive at camp until May 12th, and it will take a day or so before we can retrieve our mail at the post office in town.  We appreciate your patience in acknowledging or responding to any mail you may send us.

And finally, this is one more reminder that all medical records and camper profile forms must be submitted by May 15th.  If you have any questions about that, please let us know.

If you have been assigned a camp Little Brother, please remember that you are to CALL (not text, email, tweet) your little bro as soon as possible.  If your little bro is from another country, then you may email him.  Please try to get that done in the next few days.  Thanks very much.

We will see you all very soon!  Get pumped!!  We know, we know….you already are.  Some important reminders:

PAPER WORK: Hey, who doesn’t love paper work?  From all of our staff (not including CITs), we need the following forms before you arrive:

  • W4
  • WT-4

If you are a new staff member, we also need the following:

  • I-9
  • Copy of your SS Card
  • Copy of your Driver’s License

All of the forms listed above are downloadable from your Staff Keylog page.  And from that same page you can see what we have already received, and what we still need.  Please contact us with any questions.

GETTING TO CAMP: Kinda important, eh?  We have heard from many of you regarding your plans, but many of you have not yet informed us of your plans.  Please do so right away. You can email us or you can just fill out the travel form on your Keylog page.

We have campers signed up for most of our eligible pre-registration trips.  As a reminder, these trips can be pre-registered for if your camper meets the pre-requisites, which we sent you via email earlier in April:

1st Session:

  • 10 Day Isle Royale Backpack Trip
  • 7 Day Sand River Canoe Trip (Canada)
  • 4 Day Apostle Islands Sea Kayak Trip

2nd Session:

  • 12 Day Quetico Provincial Park Canoe Trip (Canada)
  • 6 Day Isle Royale Backpack Trip
  • 4 Day Apostle Islands Sea Kayak Trip

Why pre-register?  Doing so guarantees a spot on the trip.  Many trips will have room still after the boys arrive at camp.  In the past, some trips have filled up with pre-registered campers.  To pre-register your camper, we need a parent to call or email us with consent.

Benches up,
